Changes to the law for herbal Products

From the end of April 2011 it will be illegal for many herbal products presented as a tablet or capsule to be sold in the UK without a licence or registration from the government department for health regulating medicines – the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Jessup products are already licenced.

 

The Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive

Existing licenced products have a PL (product licence) number on the packaging. Other MHRA approved herbal products will have a THR number. THR is Traditional Herbal Registration which is the new wave of herbal licenced products introduced under new MHRA regulations for Traditional Herbal Medicines under the THMPD (Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive).

Jessup will have new THR products in 2010.
